Goods Drive 2017

The month of August is going to be a month of giving with the Newby-Ginning’s Goods Drive hosted by Heritage Home Loans and All Lines Insurance.

Give back to your community by donating new or gently used household goods to veterans and surviving families in our area.

Drop off your donations in any of the 3 bins located in the Windermere Real Estate buildings located in Hayden, CDA, and Post falls anytime during the month of August. Each donation will be given a raffle ticket with a chance to win some great prizes donated by local businesses in the area such as Advanced Bark Blowing, Ponderosa Springs Golf Course, Left Coast Fusion, Post Falls Brewery and more! What Newby-Ginnings does for our veterans

Everyday we meet Veterans, Active Servicemen and Women, and Gold Star Families that are struggling financially; they are struggling with the VA system, health issues, PTSD, TBI, and relationship problems because of all of this.
We have found that Newby-ginnings is place where they can come, not only for basic household necessities, but peer support, resources and referrals to other agencies.  We work very closely with the American Legion, the VFW, DAV, the Combat Vet Riders, Combat Vet Motorcycle Assoc., the VA,  Kootenai County Veteran Services, Goodwill, Heritage Health,  St. Vincent’s and many more.  We have become a viable and reliable resource in the Veteran community.
So far, in 3 years, we have assisted over well 1400 Veterans, Active Servicemen and Women and Gold Star Families in our area.  From Montana, Cheney, Deer Park and everywhere in between. We average about 100 visitors to our shop every day that we are open and we enroll at least 10 new Veterans a week.

What to donate

The following is a list of the most needed items.
  • Furniture: (Beds, Tables, Chairs, Couches, Lamps, Shelving, Storage and etc.)
  • Cookware :(Pots, Pans, Baking dishes, Cooking Utensils and etc.)
  • Dishes:(Plates, Bowls, Cups, Silverware, Glasses, Storage containers and etc.)
  • Bedding:(Blankets, Sheet sets, Pillows and etc.)
  • Shoes:(Men, Woman, Kids and all sizes)
  • Kitchen Appliances:(Microwaves, Toasters, Coffee Pots and etc.)
  • Electronics:(TV’s, DVD players, Radios and etc.)
  • Large Appliances:(Washer, Dryers, Refrigerators and etc.)
  • Personal Hygiene (Not opened):(Body Soaps, Shampoos, Conditioners, Toothbrushes,Toothpaste, Combs, Wash Cloths, Bath Towels and etc.)
Donation check list:
  • Clean – Please make sure all clothing and household items are clean and ready to re-homed.  Our volunteers put our donated items directly into the shop for our Veterans.  Unfortunately, we do have the resources to clean or repair items that are donated.
  • Complete and functional – Please include pieces and parts to equipment, furniture, children’s games, toys, etc.  This helps to ensure that all donations are functional and ready for immediate distribution in the shop.​​
