Veteran’s Day Event List: Spokane & Coeur d’Alene 2016

By November 9, 2016Events, Fall

Veterans day became a national holiday in 1938. November 11th is the anniversary of World War I. Veterans Day shows appreciation and recognizes those who have been willing to give their lives and served in their country’s armed forces.

Because Veterans Day is a federal holiday, many people receive the day off of work and school. There are many way that you can show your appreciation to our veterans. The first and most important way is to thank any veteran for their service if you see them.

Many businesses and restaurants offer specials or free meals to veterans on this day. The community also shows its appreciation by organizing ceremonies and events to honor our veterans or raise money for various organizations.
